What to do if you have a concern
There are various reasons you might be concerned. For instance:
- something has been disclosed to you which gives you cause for concern;
- you have seen something which gives you cause for concern;
- you have a concern about a volunteer or a staff member;
- you feel something is not right in the culture.
It is important that you feel able to log your concern, whatever it is, whether it feels big or small – please don’t just leave it.
In most cases, the best thing to do will be to contact our Safeguarding Officer (Dererca Sprake) or our Deputy Safeguarding Officer (Abigail Foulkes-Jones). You can also contact the Thirtyone:eight helpline at any time – 0303 003 1111. In extreme circumstances, it will be right to call 999.
We don’t want any concern to be missed and sometimes this happens because it doesn’t fit our picture of what a safeguarding concern looks like. For some concerns, for instance with culture, we don’t quite know what to do with them. In such cases, you might also find it helpful to contact our Bishop (email@example.com) or our Trustees (firstname.lastname@example.org). The Pastor does not have access to any of the emails given on this page.
